Cardinal Hall of Honor
A four-year letterwinner for the Cardinals, Gage began his Lamar career in 1969. A three-year starter in the Cardinals' secondary, Gage finished his career with 12 interceptions, which still ranks among the school's all-time top 10 (only two shy of the record). Gage picked off six passes during his senior season to rank among the Southland leaders. Gage led a defense that set a school record with 29 interceptions on their way to a share of the 1971 SLC title. Ranked among the school's all-time leaders averaging 12.0 tackles per game, Gage closed his career by leading the Cardinals to a program-best eight wins (a record which still stands for LU as a four-year institution).
