Luis Baraldi was a four-year letterwinner on the Lamar University men’s tennis team from 1970 through 1973. He helped LU win the 1973 Southland Conference championship.

Baraldi, who played No. 1 singles all four seasons for the Cardinals, posted a 45-20 career singles record.  After posting a 6-6 singles record as a freshman, he compiled a 12-4 ledger in 1971. Baraldi posted a 15-5 record and was one of 32 finalists at the 1972 NCAA Tournament.

Baraldi finished his career with a 13-5 overall mark as a senior in 1973. Included in that was a 7-4 record in Southland Conference matches which culminated in the 1973 conference singles championship. During his career, Baraldi defeated some of the country’s top tennis players from universities like Houston, LSU, Texas A&M and Trinity.

A native of Mexico City, Baraldi was the Mexican junior champion in 1969. He played professionally on the ATP Tour from 1973 until 1981, and was the No. 2-ranked player in Mexico from 1975 through 1978. He was a five-time Mexican national doubles champion. Baraldi was a member of the Mexican Davis Cup team from 1973 through 1982.

Baraldi is the CEO of Baral Group, Inc., which is a full-service international sports and entertainment company. As a corporate video company, Baral creates and manages magazines, radio shows, sports events, television programs, and media websites.
