Liz Blue earned Asics-Tiger All-American honors in 1983, the first Lamar University volleyball player to earn All-America honors. A two-time All-Southland Conference performer, Blue was named the Southland Conference’s Most Valuable Player in 1983.

Blue set the LU single-season records for hitting percentage (.363) and block assists (162) in 1982. Her 593 kills and 67 blocks in 1983 were the second-best totals in LU history at the time of her induction. She ranked near the top on the LU chart for single-season digs with 383 in 1983. At the time of her induction, her 484 career blocks were second on Lamar’s list.

Blue helped lead Lamar to a 31-24 record in 1983, which included a Southland Conference championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
