Cardinal Hall of Honor
A four-year letterwinner for the Lamar University women’s basketball team, Carol Sims helped LU record back-to-back 20-win seasons in 1974-75 (23-11) and 1975-76 (22-8).
The Lady Cardinals won the Texas Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) Zone Tournament in 1976 before losing in the second round of the Texas AIAW State Tournament.
At the time of her induction, Sims ranked second on the all-time LU scoring list with 1,571 points. She recorded 30 or more points five times, including a career-high 34 points against Houston. She scored 585 points in 1976-77, which ranked third in school history.
Sims set a school record for career free throws made with 275 and second on the career list for field goals with 648.
