Cardinal Hall of Honor
Through the measurement of time, Ronnie Gebauer is the finest pass receiver in the annals of Lamar University football.
Two decades after his last catch, the Nederland product still retained career records for receptions (149) and receiving yards (2,098).
An All-Southland Conference performer in 1969, Gebauer was twice (1968 and 1969) named Lamar’s Most Outstanding Offensive Player. In 1969, he caught 11 passes against Arkansas State, and that single-game record held up for 12 years. He also caught nine passes against UT Arlington and Southern Illinois in 1968.
Against stacked defenses in 1968, Gebauer’s 56 catches for 831 yards still ranked fourth and third, respectively, at the time of his induction. He came up with another great season in 1969 with 48 grabs for 652 yards. Gebauer was captain of the 1970 Lamar University football team.
