Although he only played at Lamar University for two seasons, Rick Nesloney left his mark on the tradition-rich Cardinal baseball program. He helped LU win a pair of Southland Conference championships as the Cardinals made their first two NCAA Regional appearances.

Nesloney was named Southland Conference Pitcher of the Year in 1977 after posting a 12-6 record with a 2.34 ERA and a school-record 109 strikeouts. He was 9-3 with a 3.34 ERA in 1976, helping LU to its first-ever NCAA Regional appearance. He pitched the fourth no-hitter in school history, a 5-0 win over UT Arlington on April 22, 1977.

At the time of his induction Nesloney ranked among LU’s all-time leaders in several statistical categories. His 12 wins in 1977 were tied for the school record, while his 10 complete games that season were second on the LU list. His 16 career complete games had him ranked fifth in that category, while his 2.83 career ERA was ranked sixth.
