Howard “Boo” Robinson was a four-year letterwinner as a wide receiver on the Lamar University football team from 1976 through 1979. He led the team in receiving for three straight years (1977-79). He caught nine passes for 205 yards in 1977 and 27 passes for 451 yards and four touchdowns in 1978. He hauled in 19 passes for 315 yards and two touchdowns as a freshman in 1976.
Robinson had a breakout season for the Cardinals in 1979, catching 59 passes for 840 yards, while setting a school record with 12 touchdowns en route to earning first team All-Southland Conference honors. He set the school record with 18 touchdown receptions. At the time of his induction, he ranked second all-time in receiving yardage (1,811) and fourth in receptions (114). He posted single-game highs of 11 catches for 170 yards and three touchdowns vs. UT Arlington.
A two-sport athlete, Robinson was also a sprinter on the LU track team. He helped the Cardinals claim the Southland Conference outdoor championships in 1980 and 1981 by competing in the 100 and 200 meters and running on the 400-meter relay team.
