Kim Christensen was a four-year letterwinner on the Lamar University baseball team from 1979 through 1982. He earned All-Southland Conference honors in 1980 and 1982 at third base and helped LU win Southland Conference championships in 1979 and 1981.

As a senior, Christensen hit .343 with 48 runs scored, 71 hits, nine home runs and 50 RBIs. He received the Al Vincent Award, which is given annually to the team’s most valuable hitter.

Christensen posted a record-setting junior season in 1981. He helped LU win a school-record 54 games and advance to the NCAA Regionals in Austin, Texas. He led the team with 11 home runs and a school-record 73 RBIs, which led the Southland Conference.

Christensen broke into the starting lineup as a sophomore in 1980, hitting .310 with 14 doubles, 12 home runs and 65 RBIs, which was seventh on LU’s all-time list at the time of his induction. He led the Southland Conference in home runs and RBIs.

A native of Louisville, Ky., Christen still ranked among the all-time leaders in Lamar University history at the time of his induction. He ranked first in RBIs (190), second in home runs (32) and seventh in total bases (340).
