Daniel Stagg, who was a two-year letterwinner in track at Lamar University, was a two-time Southland Conference champion in the 400-meter hurdles (1977, 1978).

Stagg was a three-time NCAA qualifier, twice in the 400-meter hurdles (1977, 19780 and once as a member of the 4x400-meter relay team (1978). At the time of his induction, he ranked third in school history in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 50.58 seconds.

Stagg was part of three relay teams that set LU records (4x100, 4x200, sprint medley). He was a U.S. Track & Field All-American in 1977, and was the National Junior College champion in the 400-meter hurdles in 1976.
