A four-year letterwinner for the Cardinals, it didn’t take long for Lynnie Alfred Terry to leave her mark on the Lamar University record books. During her rookie season, Terry clocked a school-record in the 200-yard breaststroke, which would be the first in her all-out assault on the program’s record books. Terry would go on to set six school records during her sophomore season alone.

Terry closed out her first two years on campus by qualifying for the TAIAW State Championships where she posted top-five finishes in the 50-yard breaststroke both seasons. As a junior, Terry would take her success in the pool a step further as she qualified for the AIAW National Championships.

Terry was named team captain as a senior, a year that saw her shatter more school records, including events where she already held the university benchmark. She also closed out her collegiate career by once again qualifying for the AIAW National Championships.

Terry’s athletic accomplishments didn’t stop with her graduation from LU. She would go on to earn USAT All-America honors in the sport of triathlon eight different times. She became the top-ranked female triathlete in the SMW Region (Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Arkansas), and was named to the U.S. National team for the 2004 World Championships.
