Cardinal Hall of Honor
Although only a two-year letterwinner at Lamar University, Alan Marr distinguished himself as one of the best hitters in school history. Marr was a two-time All-Southland Conference performer in 1980 and 1981.
Marr led the team with a .373 batting average in 1980 and compiled a two-year batting average of .351, which was the school record at the time of his induction. He led LU with 12 home runs in 181 and led the team in hits and total bases both seasons.
Marr set LU single-season records for hits (88) and doubles (24). He helped the Cardinals post a 100-48 record during his career, which included a team-record 54 wins in 1981. He also helped the team win a Southland Conference championship in 1981, earning the Cardinals a trip to the NCAA Central Regionals.
