Katrinka Jo Crawford served as Lamar University’s volleyball coach for 15 seasons from 1981 through 1995 and is the school’s all-time winningest coach with 336 victories.

Crawford guided LU to Southland Conference championships in 1983 and 1984, to two American South Conference championships (1987, 1990) and a Sun Belt Conference championship in 1993. The Lady Cardinals made NCAA Tournament appearances in 1983, 1984 and 1993.

Crawford coached the first two Southland Conference Player of the Year Award recipients, as Liz Blue won the award in 1983 and Ruby Randolph was honored in 1984. Crawford also coached the school’s first All-America recipient, as Blue was an Asics All-American in 1983. Seven Lamar University volleyball players won the prestigious Babe Zaharias/John Gray Award during her tenure.

After LU, Crawford went on to coach at UTSA, where she guided the Lady Roadrunners to the 1999 Southland Conference regular-season title and the 2000 Southland Conference Tournament crown. She was inducted into the Southland Conference Hall of Fame in 2004. The SLC’s Coach of the Year Award bears her name.
