Cardinal Hall of Honor
With Jerald Clark’s booming bat in the Lamar University lineup for four seasons, the Cardinals captured three Southland Conference championships and advanced to the championship round in two NCAA regional tournaments.
Acclaimed as one of Lamar’s best position players of all time, the two-time All-Southland Conference great set three LU career records and two single-season marks.
Clark’s career totals included records for base hits (242), total bases (385) and at bats (831) plus 25 home runs, seven triples and 52 doubles. In 1985, Clark had the most sensational single season in Lamar history when he led the club in seven offensive categories. That year, he won the Al Vincent Award and set season marks for total bases (144) and hitting streak (19 games), while batting .378 with 12 home runs and 62 RBIs.
Clark spent five seasons with the San Diego Padres before playing one season each with the Colorado Rockies and Minnesota Twins.
