Top 25 – Softball Walks-off Nicholls

Now that the academic year is over, and before we begin the 2019-20 season, LamarCardinals.com wanted to take a look back at what we felt were the Top 25 Moments of the 2018-19 season. The top 25 list was voted on by a panel of 15 members of the LU senior and external staff.

No. 16
BEAUMONT, Texas –  Lamar University trailed by two runs heading to the bottom of the seventh, and Lamar scored three runs in the seventh defeating SLC leading Nicholls, 5-4, during the 2019 season.

Jade Lewis picked up an RBI single in the seventh that set up the game-winning double by Kelly Meeuwsen that scored two. With the win, LU improves to 23-28 on the season and 14-8 in Southland Conference play.

Lamar clinched a berth into the Southland Conference Tournament. The 2019 season was the first year LU went to the SLC tournament since 2017.

Leading LU in hits in the contest was Shaina Amir with three hits. Lewis and Meeuwsen followed with two hits each. Aaliyah Ruiz pitched a complete game, while only allowing seven hits. For Ruiz, it was her sixth win of the season.

Continue to check back with LamarCardinals.com throughout the summer to see the rest of LU's 2018-19 Top 25 Moments.
