BEAUMONT, Texas - Returning to action quickly following a gutsy performance in California last weekend, Lamar University's women's basketball team will host LeTourneau on Monday. The Cards and Yellow Jackets will tip off at 7 p.m. in the Montagne Center and on ESPN+.
Lamar vs. LeTourneau - Monday, December 2 at 7 p.m. - Montagne Center
The Cardinals currently hold a 3-0 record against LeTourneau that includes a 104-27 victory on Nov. 20 last season. LU shot 55.4 percent in the contest as they had five players score in double-figures.Â
Lola Bracy led the Cards with 22 points.Â
Chastadie Barrs followed with 15 points. The Cards had 11 players score in the contest.
LeTourneau is 1-3 this year after winning at the University of Dallas and losing to St. Thomas (Houston), Birmingham-Southern, and Millsaps. The Yellow Jackets also opened the year with an exhibition loss at Northwestern State, 91-61.
Cassi Rozanski is in her third season as the head coach of LeTourneau and holds a 12-42 record in that time. Her husband, Marc Rozanski, is an assistant coach on the team. The duo were the only married couple to work on the same NCAA Division I men's basketball team during the 2014-15 season when they Cassi served as the Director of Operations and Marc was an assistant with UTRGV.
Despite their record LETU is averaging 64.0 ppg while surrendering just 62.0 ppg.Â
Keauna Whitfield is scoring 12.8 points a game with 5.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals, and 1.75 assists a game.
Vanessa Cruz is also scoring in double digits at 10.0 points a game with 2.8 boards, three assists, and 1.75 steals a game.

Dominating the second quarter, Lamar University's women's basketball team held on to win against the University of Idaho (4-2) on Friday. The Cards (2-4) outscored the Vandals 17-7 in the second and won the game 47-44.
Kayla Mitchell led the way with 11 points in just 21 minutes, shooting 50 percent from the floor.Â

Cal Poly - Nov. 30
Trailing by 11 points heading into the fourth quarter, Lamar University made a daring run in the last 10 minutes to take its first lead of the game with less than three minutes to go. The Cards (2-5) couldn't quite hold on against Cal Poly (2-5) though, dropping 57-56 on a last second layup.
Jadyn Pimentel scored 20 points for the Cards in 33 minutes off the bench, pulling down four rebounds and dishing out two assists.Â

Denver will come to town on Sunday, and Southland Conference play will begin Dec. 18 at Southeastern Louisiana. The 2019 portion of the schedule will close Dec. 21 at home against Northwestern State, and the 2020 portion will open at home against New Orleans on Jan. 2.
