Lamar Tabbed with Five Southland All-Academic Honors

BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University has five women's basketball players named to the 2026 Academic All-Southland Conference announced league officials Friday morning. Earning the honor are Shaila Forman, T'Aaliyah Miner, Chisom Oguego, Solenne Olenga and R'Mani Taylor.
 
To earn all-academic status, student-athletes needed to have a minimum grade point average of 3.25, completed at least one full semester at the nominating institution during the season in which the nomination occurs and participate in at least 50 percent of the team's games.
 
Forman (Baton Rouge, La.) achieved a 3.80 GPA while majoring in exercise science during her freshman campaign. Appearing in all 31 games, Forman was third on the team in scoring, averaging 10 points while grabbing 3.7 rebounds per game. She started her season with 18 points against Northern Colorado, 19 against Kansas State and 13 against Kansas. Forman also dished out 43 assists and was tied for the team lead with 46 steals while making a team-high 89 free throws.
 
Miner (New Orleans, La.) finished her graduate season with a 3.25 GPA in strategic communications. Throughout 30 games, she scoring 173 points (5.6 ppg), including 17 against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Stephen F. Austin. Miner was the team-leading shot blocker with 19, including a career-high four against Nicholls.
 
Oguego (Lagos, Nigeria) achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA while majoring in management information systems. In 23 games, she averaged 3.4 ppg, 5.0 rpg and 1.3 steals per game. She scored 79 points, including 10 against East Texas A&M, which also saw her grab a season-high 12 boards for her lone double-double. In addition, she stole the ball 30 times and blocked seven shots.
 
Olenga (Lubumbashi, DR Congo) earns her second academic honor this season after recording a 3.57 GPA in leadership studies. She appeared in all 31 games, starting 18, and led LU with 127 rebounds (5.7 per game). Olenga was behind Miner in blocked shots with 17 and totaled 28 steals. Averaging 7.0 ppg, the junior transfer collected four double-doubles, including a season-high 15 points and 14 rebounds against Nicholls.
 
Taylor (Houston, Texas) earned a 3.29 GPA in criminal justice during her senior season. She started in 22 of the 30 games she appeared in and scored 236 points, including a season-best 17 against Nicholls. Taylor had five games with six assists and finished with 85 for the season, while moving up to seventh all-time in the program with 334.
 
The Cardinals recorded their fourth straight 20-win season after going 20-11. They finished as the second seed in conference play at 17-5 and qualified for their first WNIT tournament since 2019.
