Cardinals Adding Six Transfers for 26-27 Squad

| By:
BEAUMONT, Texas - Lamar University women's basketball head coach Aqua Franklin is adding six signees (four NJCAA transfers and two NCAA DI transfers) to the Cardinals' program for the upcoming 2026-27 campaign. Among those joining this group are a former junior college All-American, a pair of Houston twins who played at Memphis, a three-time Mississippi state finalist, a 1,000-point scorer in high school and a Nebraskan transferring in from Kilgore College.

Jada Graves - 5-3 – G - Amarillo, Texas (Amarillo HS/New Mexico JC)

Hailing from Amarillo, Graves spent two seasons at New Mexico Junior College. While there, she averaged 12.9 points and 3.9 rebounds per game and broke the school's scoring and assists records. This included a school-record 41 points against the No. 1 team in the country. Last season, she helped the Thunderbirds to the NJCAA national championship game while averaging 18.9 ppg, 4.3 rpg and 6.9 apg. She also received the 2025-26 WBCA Two-Year College Basketball Player of the Year award and earned All-American status on the WBCA Two-Year College Coaches' All-America team.

At Amarillo High School, Graves earned first-team all-district 3-5A honors and was named co-MVP. A two-time NEISD and Spring Creek All-Tournament Selection, she collected two TGCA All-State honors and was all-region in the TABC.

"Jada is exactly what we were looking for in a true point guard to strengthen our backcourt," said head coach Aqua Franklin. "She is a floor general, a fierce competitor, and someone who has the ability to elevate those around her. Her elite work ethic sets her apart. Jada doesn't just play the game, she changes the energy in the gym."

Brooklyn Alexander - 6-1 – F - Houston, Texas (C.E. King HS/Memphis)

Brooklyn spent her sophomore season appearing in 29 games with the Memphis Tigers. She averaged 2.6 points and 1.9 rebounds while making all 13 three-point attempts. As a freshman at Tulsa, she appeared in 12 games, including six American Athletic Conference contests.

Her high school career started when she played two seasons at Channelview before transferring to C.E. King. With the Panthers, Brooklyn was a three-time Class 6A First-Team All-District and Academic All-District selection. As a senior, she averaged 15 ppg and guided her team to a second-place finish in district play.

"Brooklyn brings a blue-collar mentality to our program. Her ability to shoot the ball from the forward position makes her a strong offensive threat," said Franklin. "Combined with her ambition and work ethic, she will be a very valuable addition to our team, and we look forward to helping her reach her full potential."

Kennedi Alexander - 6-1 – G/F - Houston, Texas (C.E King HS/Memphis)

Kennedi has joined her twin sister, Brooklyn, at Tulsa, Memphis and Lamar. Last season, Kennedi appeared in 31 games with 11 starts for the Tigers and was fifth on the team averaging 3.8 rpg while scoring 3.7 ppg. This included a consecutive-day stretch where she scored a career-high of 14 points at Temple and secured a career-high 13 rebounds over East Carolina.

She spent her freshman season at Tulsa, earning a spot on the 2024-25 AAC All-Freshman team, playing in 29 games with 3.3 ppg and 1.8 rpg.

Like Brooklyn, Kennedi spent two seasons at Channelview before transferring to C.E. King and earned three Class 6A First-Team All-District and Academic All-District honors. As a senior, she was instrumental in helping the Panthers to a second-place finish in the district.

"Kennedi brings versatility and experience to our program," said Franklin. "Her size at the guard position adds another valuable dimension to our backcourt, and she has tremendous upside."

Kiah Goynes - 5-8 - G - Ft. Worth, Texas (Crowley HS/Hill College)

In 56 career games with Hill College, Goynes averaged 13.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. Her play as a sophomore earned her NTJCAC Honorable Mention honors.

At Crowley HS, she recorded over 1,000 career points for the Lady Eagles and was named to the District 3-6A first team.

"Kiah is a tremendous athlete with the ability to score at the rim and stretch the floor from beyond the arc," said Franklin. "She will bring infectious energy each and every day."

Te'Sani Green - 6-1 – C - Omaha, Neb. (Benson HS/Kilgore College)

Green arrives at Beaumont after two seasons at Kilgore College. Last season, the Omaha, Neb. native helped the Rangers to 20 wins and a spot in the Region XIV championship game while averaging 15.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.

At Benson, Green appeared in 63 games for the Mighty Bunnies, averaging 11.2 ppg and 7.2 rpg.

"We are excited to announce the signing of Sani," said Franklin. Her ability to score and rebound makes her a strong and reliable presence in the paint. We expect her maturity and consistency to make an immediate impact on our program."

Larissa Hubbard - 5-11 – G/F -  Gulfport, Miss. (Harrison Central HS/Jones College)

Hubbard spent the last two seasons with the Bobcats, averaging nearly a double-double in 56 games, averaging 10.2 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. Last season, the Bobcats won 20 games and reached the quarterfinals of the Region 23 tournament.

"Larissa brings great size, skill and toughness to our program," said Franklin. "She demands the very best of herself both on and off the court, and she is a perfect fit for our culture."

These six newcomers will also be joining three incoming freshmen in Jordan Pete, E'Niyah Holmes and Kyndall Roberts. The Cardinals will also be returning six letterwinners from last season.
