BEAUMONT, Texas – The Lamar University men's golf team is set to kick off the 2018-19 season Friday in Louisville, Ky. at the Louisville Cardinals Challenge. The three-day, 54-hole tournament will take place at the University of Louisville Golf Club. The teams will play 18 holes each day on the par 72, 7,101-yard course.
The 16-team field consists of several teams ranked among the nation's top 30. The tournament includes No. 17 Duke, No. 20 North Carolina, No. 23 South Florida, No. 27 Kentucky, No. 28 Wake Forest, Louisville, LU, East Tennessee State, Western Kentucky, Nebraska, Charlotte, UL Lafayette, Cincinnati, UL-Monroe, Louisiana Tech and Mississippi State.
Teams will tee off each day on holes 1-10. Friday and Saturday will begin with a 9 a.m. tee off, and Sunday's round will get under way at 9 a.m.
The Cardinals enter the 2018-19 season looking to bounce back from a sixth-place finish at the conference championships. A youthful squad last season, the Cardinals rallied on the second day of the conference championships to pull within striking distance only to struggle in the final round.

Jessie Mudd returns the heart of his squad from the 2017-18 season, to go along with a strong incoming recruiting class. Mudd is entering his fourth season looking to rebuild the program back to national prominence.
