CARMEL, Calif. - Consistency proved to be the key for the Lamar University women's golf team as it won the Monterey Invitational on Saturday.
For the third straight day, Lamar posted a team total of 310 to finish with a three-day score of 930, two strokes ahead of Drake in the nine-team field. Central Arkansas was third with a 937. Lamar entered the day in second place, two strokes behind Drake, which led by 10 strokes after the opening round.
Julie Aime fired an even-par 72 on the 6,071-yard Del Monte Golf Course to lead Lamar. Aime was third overall with a 227 score for three rounds. Lamar's Linda Persson was fifth with a 232, while teammate Stine Pedersen tied for seventh with a 234.
Amy Anderson of North Dakota State took medalist honors with a 217.
