BEAUMONT, Texas — Lamar University posted the second-lowest score of the final round to climb into third place at the Cardinal Challenge on Tuesday morning at Beaumont Country Club.
The Cardinals finished the two-day event with a total score of 932 (311–317–304), edging Blinn College by one stroke.
LU capped the tournament with 16 birdies and 60 pars in the final round.
Aaniyah Bhola led the charge on the front nine, finishing one-under par with three birdies and four pars.
She sparked the late momentum with back-to-back birdies on the eighth and ninth holes, as six of the team's eight front-nine birdies came on the final two holes.
Bhola recorded her best finish of the season, placing 11th as an individual competitor.
Karolina Krasova added two birdies on the front side while
Brooke Frerichs played the back nine at even par, carding five pars and two birdies.
Krasova recorded the team's best finish, tying for third place to mark LU's second top 10 finish of the season.
Lucy Bedford and
Montana Di Leo each recorded two birdies down the stretch.
Di Leo highlighted her round with back-to-back birdies on the 14th and 15th holes, which including a chip-in.
Midwestern State claimed the team title by 21 strokes over Incarnate Word.
Mary Kerr led the Mustangs by capturing the individual championship with a two-day total of 222 (73–73–76), finishing three strokes ahead of teammate Romane Lacoste.
