BEAUMONT, Texas — After the fog lifted, the sun broke through and the Cardinal Challenge got underway Monday at Beaumont Country Club.
Lamar University stands in fourth place out of five teams after 36 holes, posting a two-round total of 628 (311–317), eight strokes behind third-place Blinn College.
The Cardinals opened strong with 10 birdies in the first round, six of which came on the front nine.
Karolina Krasova carded an even-par front nine with one birdie and seven pars, finishing the round with 13 pars and two birdies.
Montana Di Leo added two birdies on the front nine.
In the second round, LU recorded six birdies and 72 pars, with five of the birdies coming on the back nine.
Krasova again shot even par, this time on the back nine, highlighted by five straight pars and one birdie.
She currently sits fourth on the individual leaderboard, just three strokes off the lead.
Kamaya Moodliar led the Cardinals in the second round with three birdies, including two on the back nine.
Brooke Frerichs and Di Leo each added a birdie over the final nine holes.
Midwestern State, ranked No. 23 in Division II, leads the field with a total score of 592 (294–298), holding a 17-stroke advantage over Incarnate Word.
Mary Kerr and Alli Reily of Midwestern State, along with Incarnate Word's Isabella Saenz, are tied for first individually at 146 after two rounds.
