VICTORIA, Texas - Lamar junior Stine Pedersen is in second place at the Claud Jacobs Intercollegiate and has paced the Lady Cardinals after one day to a third place team standing.
Lamar opened the day with a round of 309 and held a one-stroke lead over Oklahoma at the par-72, 6,028-yard Victoria Country Club. But despite slicing two shots off their score with a second round score of 307, LU sits in third place at 616, five back of Oklahoma at 611 and tourney-host Texas State at 613. Sam Houston State is in fourth at 620 and Akron is fifth at 625.
Pedersen struggled to a 78 before recording the lowest round of the day with a 2-under 70 for a 148 total. She is one shot behind Landa Stewart of Sam Houston State, who's 74-73--147 leads the 90-player field.
Ashley Thorpe actually was the first round co-leader with a 72 and is currently tied for 17th at 157. Julie Aime and Lauren Van Gerven are tied for 21st at 158 after shooting matching 79-79 rounds.
Linda Persson is tied for 26th at 80-79--159.
Monday's final round will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
