TOLEDO, Ohio -- Lamar junior Hugues Joannes shot a 74 in Wednesday's second round of the 112th NCAA Men's Golf Championship at Inverness Club.
He is tied for 44th with a 36-hole total of 146 but could move up or down as approximately half of the 156-play field has yet to complete the second round following a four-and-a-half hour rain delay as thunderstorms rolled through Northwest Ohio.
Joannes began his day tied for 16th and moved into a tie for eighth after a birdie on No. 13 (his fourth hole after starting on No. 10) before bogeys on Nos. 14 and 16 dropped him into a tie for 27th. After making the turn at 2-over for the championship, play was halted while he was playing No. 2.
A birdie at No. 4 put him back at even for the day and in a tie for 19th, but he stumbled with a double bogey and bogey on five and six - two of the toughest holest on the course - and played even through the last three holes.
Thursday's final round of stroke play is tentatively scheduled to begin around 10 a.m. Eastern time, putting Joannes' tee time late in the Noon hour with the other five individual entrants.
