| By:
BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University will be sending a split squad to both the John McDonnell Invitational (Fayetteville, Ark.) and the J. Fred Duckett Rice Twilight Meet (Houston, Texas) for the weekend. Both meets are one-day events with the John McDonnell happening Friday while 16 athletes head to the J. Fred Duckett Saturday.

Last week, the Cardinals sent a split squad to the Bryan Clay Invitational (Azusa Calif.) and the Tom Tellez Invitational (Houston, Texas). In Houston, Big Red collected 39 top-10 finishes, highlighted by Alex Williams III, who recorded three top-five finishes in the shot put (16.91m/55-05.75), discus (5th; 45.25m/148-05) and hammer throw (4th; 58.02m/190-04). Kyndall Drones established a new program hammer throw mark of 52.83m (173-04) to earn fourth place and made her the first Cardinal to reach 170 feet, breaking the previous mark held by Glennis Woolridge (166-7) back in 2023.

Meanwhile, in Azusa, Ashton Rainey (20th; 34:38.12) set a personal best in the 10,000 meters, which broke her previous mark by 56 seconds and finished in the top 20. Luke Parker also established a personal best in the 800m after he ran 1:50.16 and took 15th.
