AZUSA, Calif. - Lamar University junior
Ashton Rainey set a personal best in the women's 10,000 meters Thursday at the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific and finishing 20th overall.
The Ocean Springs, Miss. native clocked in a time of 34:38.12, which broke her previous mark by 56 seconds. She began the race by running in the top five through 1,600m before falling to the middle of the pack. Her fastest split was 1:18.42, which was set on the final lap. Rainey was the second athlete from a Texas school to cross the line before Naomi Addo (West Texas A&M).
