Alex Williams III,
Davis Wenthe and the men's and women's 1,600-meter relay teams each earned second place as Lamar University racked up 24 top-10 finishes on the second day of the Tom Tellez Invitational before the rest of the meet was canceled due to weather.

Williams III needed a toss of 16.91m (55-05.75) to get past Sam Houston's Mateo Ortiz for a place in the top two. Â This is currently his season-best in both indoor and outdoor combined and is also ranked 21
st in the South Central Region.

Wenthe landed in the NCAA Division I Top 100 rankings list at No. 85 after finishing second at 51.91 seconds, which trailed first place by 33 hundredths of a second.

Ryan Servantes (3:51.70) and
Andres Padron (3:53.89) each set personal bests and earned third and fourth place, respectively, in the men's 1,500m race, but were the top two collegiate athletes to finish the race.

The men's 1,600m team of
Bryson Champagne,
Tyler Minter,
John Sanderson and
Kenson Tate finished their race with a time of 40.64. The women's 1,600m group of
Ahmasia Brown,
Kayla Smith,
Jocelyn Higgins and
Chantell Bowman crossed the line with a time of 46.66.
Big Red returns to action Saturday, April 25th when they will travel to Fayetteville, Ark. for the John McDonnell Invitational hosted by Arkansas.
