Brooke Frerichs climbs to fourth after Day 2 of Southland Conference tourney

Cardinals are in fifth place

SAN MARCOS, Texas — Brooke Frerichs climbed eight spots to finish fourth after the second round of the Southland Conference tournament on Tuesday afternoon at Kissing Tree Golf Club.

Frerichs carded a two-under-par 70 and sits two strokes out of second place heading into the final round.

Lamar University is currently in fifth place after posting a second-round score of 296, just one stroke behind fourth-place A&M–Corpus Christi.

Frerichs recorded five birdies and 10 pars on the day, highlighted by three consecutive birdies on the back nine.

As a team, the Cardinals combined for 14 birdies, eight of which came on the back nine. Four of the five Cardinals also notched a birdie on the third hole.

Kamaya Moodliar turned in a bogey-free back nine at one-under par, finishing with one birdie and eight pars. She closed the round with seven consecutive pars.

Aaniyah Bhola added four birdies, including three on the back nine, and posted back-to-back birdies on holes 16 and 17.

Montana Di Leo played the back nine at even par, highlighted by a birdie on the 18th hole and six consecutive pars to close the round.

Houston Christian (284–295—579) holds a one-stroke lead over UT Rio Grande Valley (292–288—580) atop the team standings.

Individually, Sara Pihlajamaki of Houston Christian remains in first place with a one-stroke advantage over teammate Alyssa Steward and UTRGV's Miriam Barcalova.
