NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas — On the final day of competition at the Texas State Invitational on Tuesday afternoon, the Lamar University women's golf team held on to finish 10th overall at Landa Park Golf Course.
The Cardinals shot a two-day total of 921 (307-305-309) to finish two strokes ahead of 11th place West Texas A&M.
LU ended up five strokes behind ninth place East Texas A&M.
West Texas A&M was one of two nationally ranked Division II programs competing in the tourney as it checks in at No. 24 while St. Mary's is No. 15.
The Cardinals tallied six birdies and 53 pars during the third round. Five of the six birdies came on the front nine.
After a solid start on Day 1,
Kamaya Moodliar ended up claiming a spot in the top 15 after making three birdies and eight pars.
She finished with a team high 11 birdies, seven of which came during the opening round.
Moodliar recorded her best finish of the season, topping her previous best finish of 20th at the Wolverine Invitational back in September.
Karolina Krasova shot even par on the front nine with a birdie on the second hole and seven pars.
Montana Di Leo and
Lucy Bedford each had a birdie on the 18th and seventh holes, respectively.
LU finished with 149 pars, which tied for seventh most at the tourney.
Texas State (294-276-276—846) claimed the team title with a 27-stroke lead over second place Tarleton State.
Tarleton State's Louise Depadt led the individual scoreboard with a three-round total of 205 (70-71-71), holding a four-stroke lead over Texas State's Briana LeMaire.
