CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — After one day of competition at the Islanders Collegiate Invitational on Monday at the Corpus Christi Country Club, the Lamar University women's golf team sits near the middle of the pack.
The Cardinals are in sixth place with a two-round total of 634 (310-324), holding a two-stroke lead over Weatherford College.
LU made 10 birdies in the opening round, seven came on the front nine.
Amanda Davidsson made three birdies and eight pars in the first round. She finished the back nine making four straight pars.
Kamaya Moodliar shot even par on the front nine in the opening round with two birdies and five pars.
During the second round, the Cardinals made 40 pars and five birdies. LU's 15 birdies are currently ranked fifth most in the tournament.
Davidsson tallied three birdies in the second round while Moodliar made 10 pars.
Karolina Krasova began the second round making four straight pars while she tallied one birdie on the 16th hole.
All five Cardinals made a par on the fourth and 17th holes.
Moodliar and Krasova are each in the top 25 after both shooting an opening round score of 76.
UT Rio Grande Valley (295-294—589) is in first place, holding a seven-stroke lead over Houston Christian.
A&M-Corpus Christi's Linnea Olsson (72-71—143) is tied for the top spot on the individual leaderboard alongside McLennan Community College's Aaliyah Hryniewiecka-Irwin (73-70).
