BEAUMONT, Texas – After sweeping both games at home in the previous week, Lamar University remains one of four teams tied for second in the Southland Conference standings, just a game back of McNeese for the overall lead. The Cardinals will head out to the Big Easy Thursday for a meeting against New Orleans at Lakefront Arena. The game starts at 6:30 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
PREVIOUSLY
LU (8-6, 6-2 SLC) held on to the lead throughout Saturday's game against UIW to win, 78-62. Big Red shot a season-high 55 percent from the field, which included seven three-pointers.
Kamryn Wilson established a new career-high of 23 points on 8-of-13 shooting, while
T'Aaliyah Miner netted 16 points.
KAMRYN'S WEEK
Wilson averaged 20 points, four rebounds, 1.5 assists and three steals per game while shooting 60.8 percent from the field and 63.6 percent from behind the three-point arc. She has scored in double figures for four consecutive games and now leads the Cardinals averaging 11.1 points per game. Before Saturday, her previous career high was 18 points against McNeese, which she achieved earlier this season.
MISS NEW ORLEANS PLAYS FOR LAMAR
T'Aaliyah Miner, a New Orleans native, has been an impact player for the Cardinals in the last two meetings with UNO. Last season, she set a then-career-high 14 points while hitting all six of her field goal attempts. Two seasons ago, in the Cardinals' most recent appearance at Lakefront Arena, Miner's lone basket of the game proved to be the game-winner in a 63-60 victory.

LU holds a 26-19 edge over the Privateers, having won the last three meetings, including a 94-52 win at home. Along with Miner,
Jacei Denley (16) and
R'Mani Taylor (13) also scored in double figures for the game. The Cardinals have also won five of their last six games at Lakefront Arena against UNO.
ABOUT THE PRIVATEERS
After winning its first game of the season against Southeastern Louisiana, 64-63, UNO (1-14, 1-6 SLC) followed with a 79-64 loss to Southeastern Louisiana. The trio of Lauren Banks (15), Jayla Kimbrough (14) and Brialle Washington (13) combined for 42 points. Shanihya Brown is the only double-digit scorer (11.9 ppg) on a Privateer's team that is averaging 63.4 ppg.
