SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah —
Brooke Frerichs shot three-under-par during the final round of the Wolverine Invitational on Tuesday at TalonsCove Golf Club as the Lamar University women's golf team finished seventh.
The Cardinals shot a total score of 892 (294-299-299), climbing one spot. LU finished with a six-stroke lead over eighth place Southern Utah.
"First tournament in the books. We saw a lot of good things as a whole," said head coach
Janell O'Connor. "Kamaya had a great first tournament. Proud of how she held herself together. Brooke finished strong and finally proved to herself she can.
"We have a few small things to clean up the next two days before we head to Oral Roberts."
Frerichs finished one-under-par on the front nine. She had a bogey-free back nine, shooting two-under-par with two birdies and seven pars.
She moved up 12 spots to finish 21st with a total score of 219 (73-77-69).
"I had such a fun day out on the course today," Frerichs said. "I really focused on staying present, taking one shot at a time and enjoying the beautiful views in Utah.
"My tee shots set me up well and my irons felt solid all day, which gave me a lot of confidence."
LU made 10 birdies during the final round, 31 birdies for the whole tournament.
Kamaya Moodliar placed inside the top 20 as she made 10 total birdies.
Aaniyah Bhola shot a score of 74 during the final day as she made five straight pars to start the third round.
Westminster's Ashley Lam 207 (68-73-66) finished first atop the individual leaderboard with a two-stroke lead over Wyoming's Elle Higgins.
Cal State Northridge 850 (280-283-287) won the team title with a three-stroke lead over Wyoming.
