KERRVILLE, Texas — Behind 18 birdies, Lamar University now sits one-shot out of third place after two rounds of play at the Southland Conference tournament Tuesday afternoon at Comanche Trace.
Matthew Bramford shot two-under-par (70) with five birdies.
David Schneider Jerez and
Nathan Woodham each carded a score of 70, also finishing at two-under-par in round two.
Jerez and Woodham each made four birdies. Jerez tallied back-to-back birdies on the third and fourth holes.
Bramford, Woodham,
Rory Bennet and
Filip Widepalm all had a birdie on the ninth hole.
Bennet finished at even-par (72) for the round after he made three birdies and 12 pars.
Widepalm was perfect on the back nine, making nine-straight pars to close out the round with a score of 76.
LU made 10 of the 18 birdies on the front nine.
The Cards are 11 shots out of second place and 15 shots out of first after carding a second-round score of 282 for a total score of 580.
LU has a six-shot lead over fifth place Francis Marion.
Bramford is tied for sixth place. He is one of four Cardinals in the top 20 as Jerez is tied for 12th, Woodham is 17th and Bennet is tied for 18th.
Augusta has a four-shot lead over second place Incarnate Word. Incarnate Word shot the lowest team score of the second round (274).
Bo Blanchard of Augusta holds a three-shot lead over UIW's Ken-Marten Soo on the individual leaderboard.
