BRYAN, Texas — After Day 1 of The Aggie Invitational on Saturday at the Traditions Club, Lamar University sits in seventh place with a total score of 611 (301-310).
Rory Bennet shot one-under-par (71) in the opening round after making four birdies and 11 pars.
Bennet birdied back-to-back on the fifth and sixth holes as well as 11 and 12. Bennet finished with seven birdies as he made three in the second round.
Filip Widepalm carded a 71 to shoot one-under-par in the second round. He made three straight birdies on 15, 16 and 17.
Widepalm finished with four birdies in the second round. He is currently tied for 15th overall.
LU finished with 23 birdies on the day as 12 were made in the opening round and 11 in the second round.
Texas A&M, the No. 19 team in the country, has a seven-shot lead over No. 6 Oklahoma.
Phichaksn Maichon of Texas A&M leads the individual leaderboard by two shots after tallying the scores of 71-70 (141).
Texas A&M has three individuals in the top three. Oklahoma's Jase Summy, the fifth-ranked player in the country, is tied for fourth with a total score of 145.
