PLAYA DEL CARMEN, Mexico —
David Schneider Jerez carded an eagle on the 18th hole to highlight the final round of competition at the Vaqueros Invitational on Tuesday at Iberostar Playa Paraiso Golf Club.
The Cardinals finished 13th with a three-day total of 919 (313-298-308), narrowly missing a spot in the top 10 by seven shots.
Jerez and
Rory Bennet both led the Cards in the final round by shooting a score of 73 (+1). The duo combined to make five birdies.
Jerez tallied one of 11 eagles made at the tournament.
Matthew Bramford and
Filip Widepalm tallied a combined four birdies to give the Cardinals 31 for the tournament.
Lamar University tied for sixth in pars with 149 made.
No. 16 SMU ended up hanging on to take first place at even-par (293-280-291=864). The Mustangs finished with a 15-shot lead over UTEP.
University of Louisiana-Monroe's Louis Anceaux claimed the individual title after carding a score of six-under-par (68-71-71).
Anceaux finished two shots ahead of SMU's William Sides and Western Carolina's Chase Cline, who both tied for second.
