LAREDO, Texas — On the final day of competition at the Border Olympics on Tuesday, the Lamar University men's golf team made 12 birdies.
LU ended up finishing tied for 14th place with a total score of 898 (290-305-303).
The Cardinals finished deadlocked with Illinois State.
David Schneider Jerez shot four-over-par with a total score of 217 (73-72-72) to finish in a three-way tie for 18th overall.
Jerez led the team with five made birdies in round three.
Filip Widepalm ended up with three birdies and 11 pars on the final day.
The University of Louisiana at Lafayette finished first overall on the team leaderboard with a total score of 855, six shots ahead of New Mexico State and Houston in second place.
New Mexico State's Ethan Klose finished atop the individual leaderboard with a total score of 208 (70-71-67).
Klose held a one-shot lead over Michigan's Hunter Thomson, the 50th ranked player in the nation.
