LAREDO, Texas — After two rounds of competition Monday, the Lamar University men's golf team is in 12th place at the Border Olympics.
David Schneider Jerez shot three-over-par (72-73) to end up tied for 14th after he made 27 pars, which is tied for third most at the tournament.
Nathan Woodham had a solid start, making six birdies in the opening round to card a score of two-under-par (69). Woodham finished the day with eight birdies, the third most made in the competition.
Matthew Bramford made 16 pars in the first round of play to shoot a score of even-par (71).
The Cardinals finished with a two-round total of 595 (290-305). Lamar University is four shots outside of the top 10.
University of Louisiana at Lafayette carded a score of 572 (286-286) to hold a three-shot lead over tourney host Houston.
Michigan's Hunter Thomson (70-70), the 50th ranked player in the country, is in a three-way tie for first place on the individual leaderboard with a total score of 140.
UL Lafayette's Kyle Bennett (70-70) and Houston's Laurenz Schiergen (69-71) share the lead with Thomson.
