BEAUMONT, Texas - Lamar University will resume its current three-game homestand Monday evening when it hosts Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at the Neches Federal Credit Union Arena at the Montagne Center. The game tips off at 6:30 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.

The Cardinals (3-4, 1-0 SLC) opened the Southland Conference season with a 67-59 win over UT Rio Grande Valley. Three players were in double figures, including

Kamryn Wilson (13), who combined for 41 points. The win marked LU's ninth consecutive conference-opening win, dating back to the 2016-17 season.

LU's win over the Vaqueros featured a 25-point fourth quarter that started with an 18-3 run. Through seven games, LU has tallied five quarters of 20 or more points, and three of them came in the final 10 minutes. Over the past four years, the Cardinals have compiled 107 20-point quarters, which have led to 56 victories.

ONE DOUBLE OLENGA, PLEASE!
Olenga, the junior transfer from Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo, achieved her first double-double of the season with a season-high 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting and 10 rebounds. Her previous highs were nine points and nine boards against St. Mary's (TX).

ABOUT THE ISLANDERS
The Islanders (1-6, 0-0 SLC) are in the midst of a six-game skid following their season-opening 100-30 win over the College of Biblical Studies. In its last game, Corpus Christi fell, 62-44, to UTEP in El Paso, but was led by Samora Watson, who finished with a game-high 17 points.
