MANHATTAN, Kan. - Lamar University battled Kansas State to a 20-20 tie after the first quarter, but the rest of the game belonged to the Wildcats as they handed Big Red its second straight loss, 89-61, Monday evening at Bramlage Coliseum.

Shaila Forman led the way for LU with 19 points on 6-of-11 shooting including three from long range. R'Mani Taylor also reached double figures as she added 11 points.

The Cardinals were plagued by 37.3 percent shooting from the field while KSU crashed the boards for a 36-28 edge. LU's bench outscored the Wildcats 36-34 and posted a higher three-point percentage.

Lamar (0-2) scored the first basket of the game from Solenne Olenga. The Wildcats answered with a 9-2 run. The Cardinals kept the first quarter close, including a stretch where Forman went on a 7-0 run. Both teams finished shooting 50 percent from the field and were deadlocked at 20.

The second quarter was a different story as LU managed just three field goals. While the Cardinals kept it close to 31-29 at the midway point, KSU went on a 17-3 run to end the first half leading 48-32.

The second half proved to be much the same as LU couldn't knock down shots to close the gap while the Wildcats made half of their 32 total attempts from the field. KSU outscored the Cardinals 41-29 to finish the contest on top.

The Cardinals will conclude their three-game road trip Wednesday as they will play at the historic Allen Fieldhouse against the Kansas Jayhawks. The game will start at 6:30 p.m.
