HATTIESBURG, Miss. — In the final competition of the fall season, the Lamar University women's golf team finished Day 1 of The Judson in seventh place on Monday at Hattiesburg Country Club.
Karolina Krasova finished inside the top 20, tying for 19th place at the end of the day with a total score of 147 (73-74).
Krasova shot one under on the back nine during the first round after she made eight pars and one birdie.
To open the second round of play, Krasova made seven straight pars. She finished the back nine at even par after tallying seven pars and one birdie.
LU finished the day with 114 pars, 62 were made in the opening round.
Brooke Frerichs made 11 straight pars in the first round while
Kamaya Moodliar strung together eight straight pars.
The Cardinals made 32 pars on the back nine in the opening round.
Lucy Bedford added to the count by making seven straight pars.
LU tallied 11 birdies on the day, six of which came during the second round.
Frerichs shot even par on the back nine in the second round after she made six straight pars and one birdie.
Three Cardinals — Krasova, Frerichs and Moodliar — tallied a birdie on the 12th hole. Moodliar finished with three birdies in the second round.
LU is seven strokes behind sixth place North Alabama while it has a five-stroke lead ahead of eighth place Belmont.
Tulane sits atop the leaderboard with a total score of 565 (280-285), holding a three-stroke lead over Southern Miss.
Fernanda Gorostiaga leads the individual leaderboard with a total score of 138 (69-69). She holds a one-stroke lead over Tulane's Sophia Macias.
