Cardinals Starting Three-Game Week Against Northwestern State Monday

| By:
BEAUMONT, Texas – When the Southland Conference adjusted the women's basketball schedule to Saturday and Monday due to the cold conditions along the Gulf Coast, this forced every team, including Lamar University (13-4, 8-0 SLC) to have a rare stretch with three games in seven days. The first of LU's three games will be a home contest against Northwestern State (8-9, 5-3 SLC) at the Neches Federal Credit Union Arena at the Montagne Center. The game is scheduled to tip off at 4 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.

R'Mani Taylor (seven) and T'Aaliyah Miner (eight) combined for 15 points in the win.

Dean of 1,000-500
Sabria Dean also grabbed six rebounds in the win over the Lions. This makes her the 12th player in Cardinals' history to achieve 1,000 points and 500 rebounds. Among those in the group is her teammate Akasha Davis.

It's Okay to Give Up 20 Points And Still Win The Quarter
Saturday marked the fifth time this season in which the Cardinals conceded 20 points or more in a quarter but still outscored their opponent. The Cardinals gave up 21 points in the third quarter to ETAMU but were able to put in 26 points. The previous four times happened against Texas A&M-San Antonio, Pacific, New Orleans, and Stephen F. Austin. LU is 5-0 in all of those games.

Anyone Up For Streaks
The Cardinals have won 21 consecutive regular season SLC contests dating back to Jan. 20th, 2024 at Houston Christian. They've also won 16 consecutive games at home, including 11 against SLC opponents. In nine home games this season, LU's margin of victory is at 27.8 ppg.

All-Time vs. Northwestern State
In 62 meetings all-time, the Cardinals have won 24 games against NSU. LU won its last three contests against the Demons, including an 80-64 victory last season in Natchitoches, La., which helped clinch the conference title outright. Davis poured in 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for a double-double, while Sabria Dean (14), Denley (13), and NJ Weems (10) all reached double figures.
