Cardinals Collect Two Eagles in GMAC Invitational’s Second Round

ONEONTA, Ala. - The second round of the GMAC Invitational saw the Lamar University men's golf team pick up two eagles and had two members post rounds of 72 or better. Shooting 292 for the round, the Cardinals remain in 11th with 586 (294-292) after 36 holes of play.

For the second round in a row, David Schneider Jerez broke par as he shot 70. Highlighting this day were four birdies on the front nine to climb up to a tie for 22nd with 141. Nathan Woodham (76-72) recorded an eagle on the par 5 second hole where he moved into a tie for 52nd with a 148.

Matthew Bramford had a team-high five birdies for the round and sits in 49th with 147 (74-73). Rory Bennet posted his second-straight 77 to be in a tie for 69th with 154, while Filip Widepalm trails him by one stroke and is tied for 71st. As an individual competitor, Fermin Martinez collected an eagle on the par-4 13th. By finishing with his second straight 75, Martinez is tied for 60th with 150.

North Alabama (275-280=555) remains on top of the team leaderboard. Down by one stroke are Lipscomb and UL Monroe. UL Monroe's Louis Anceaux is tied for first with Memphis' Yixiana Wang with 133 each.

LU's final round commences at 8:42 a.m., Tuesday.  The Cardinals are paired up with USC-Upstate and Evansville.
