BEAUMONT, Texas - On a five-game winning streak, Lamar University's women's basketball team is still a half-game back of Southeastern Louisiana for first place in the Southland Conference standings. This Saturday, the Cardinals take on Nicholls at Neches Arena where the tip-off is slated to happen at 3:00 p.m.

Lamar University overcame a 14-point deficit to UIW in San Antonio for a 72-68 victory. Down 43-29, the Cardinals finished the game on a 43-25 run. The 14-point deficit is the largest lead LU was able to overcome in the game. The previous mark was 13 which LU did against Louisiana. Â
THE NJ-BOMB WENT OFF
NJ Weems set a new career-high with 27 points on 11-of-12 shooting from the field. She tied her previous career mark of 13 in the first half and tallied eight points in the fourth quarter, which included a three-pointer down the stretch to ice the win for LU. Weems had obtained her career-high four times in her career.
DEAN MAGIC
Sabria Dean finished with 19 points in the win over UIW. This included 11 points in the fourth quarter as she made all three of her shots and four free throws. Dean is also 34 points away from becoming 10th all-time scorer in program history.Â
LAST TIME VS THE COLONELS
Big Red escaped Thibodaux with a 52-49 victory on the road. Sabria Dean led the way with 12 points while Akasha Davis (11 points), R'Mani Taylor (10 points), and Malay McQueen (10 points) also scored in double-figures. While LU is 28-19 against Nicholls all-time, the last meeting between the two teams in Beaumont resulted in a 80-74 overtime loss.

The Cardinals hit the road for two anticipated rematches. On Thursday night, they will meet up with Southeastern Louisiana at 7:00 p.m in Hammond, La.Â
