KAPOLEI, Hawaii - The Lamar University men's golf team fired a final round 295 at the Kapolei Invitational, as the Cardinals scored a seventh-place finish. LU's three-round total of 881 (295-291-295) would be just outside of the top five by a mere four strokes. Big Red was led by a top-10 finish from David Schneider Jerez.

Miami (Ohio) separated itself from the rest of the field to claim the team title with a 13-stroke win (287-287-283=857) over San Diego (287-291-292=870). Utah Valley's Dane Huddleston would emerge as the individual champion shooting a three-round 210 (67-75-68), which bested five golfers by three strokes.

Schneider Jerez ended the tournament tied for ninth as one of four golfers to shoot 217 (72-71-74). Among the competitors he bested was Army's John Heckel Jr. (75-72-72=219), the nation's 40th-ranked golfer.

Rory Bennet posted a top-25 finish following a round of 76 after putting up 144 (74-70) over the first two days. Matthew Bramford had his best round of the tournament shooting 70 to end up with 226 (82-74-70) to finish 52nd.

After two straight rounds of 76, Fermin Martinez posted his best round on the final day of action. He carded a 75 to get himself one stroke behind Bramford in a tie for 56th. Nathan Woodham (T68th) carded an 80, which brought his final score to 231 (73-78-80) while individual competitor Luc Gavagnin walked off the course tied for 75th (77-75-82=234).

LU will begin the spring campaign in February with a trip across the border to Cancun, Mexico for the UT Rio Grande Valley's Los Vaqueros Invitational.
