Bennet, Schneider Jerez Climb Up Kapolei Leaderboard

KAPOLEI, Hawaii - Rory Bennet and David Schneider Jerez had huge climbs up the leaderboard in the second round of the Kapolei Invitational to help Lamar University improve to seventh place. Shooting 291 Wednesday after scoring 295 Tuesday, the Cardinals' 36-hole total of 586 has them four strokes outside the top five.

Host school Hawaii (285-289) and Miami (OH) (287-287) have leapfrogged into a tie for first on the leaderboard with 574 each while individually, Texas State's Sakke Sitala (66-74) and San Diego's Ryan Abuan (67-73) sit at the top with 140 apiece.

Bennet (74-70) and Schneider Jerez (72-71) each had six birdies and combined to move up 46 spots, between them. Schneider Jerez is currently tied for ninth with a one-under 143 after two rounds, while Bennet is at an even-par 144 and tied for 11th. Carding a 151 through two rounds, Nathan Woodham (73-78) finds himself in a tie for 53rd while Fermin Martinez (76-76) and individual competitor Luc Gavagnin (77-75) are each tied for 59th with 152. Matthew Bramford (156) had an eight-stroke improvement from 82 Tuesday to 74 Wednesday, making him part of the top 75.

Heading into the final round of the fall season, the Cardinals are paired up with Army and Utah Valley. The round will tee off at 2:00 p.m.
