BEAUMONT, Texas - Lamar University's women's basketball team started their conference season with two home victories against UIW and Northwestern State. Now winners of their last three games, Big Red will get set to hit the road this Thursday night as they will have their first meeting of the year with border rival McNeese for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.

DEAN WENT ON I-29 AGAIN
For the second game in a row, Sabria Dean recorded a 29-point game as she led LU to a 73-56 win over Northwestern State. Dean posted a 17-point first half and finished the game shooting 11-of-19 from the field. She currently leads the Southland Conference in scoring with 16.3 ppg.

BEST START IN AQUA ERA
Through 12 games of the season, the Cardinals are 8-4. This is the best start in the Aqua Franklin era and it's also best the previous mark of 7-5, which the Cardinals got last season.

CAN'T HOLD DAVIS QUIET FOR LONG
Akasha Davis was held to two points in the first half, but then woke up in the second half scoring 14 of her 16 points. Making six-of-seven from the field, she converted all four of her free throw attempts and was one rebound shy of a double-double.

HISTORY VS THE COWGIRLS
Thanks to a 13-game winning streak against the Cowgirls, LU has gotten their all-time record against McNeese to 41-43. After winning their first two games last season by 20-or more points, the Cardinals escaped a first round scare in the first round of the SLC Tournament with an 80-75 overtime win. Akasha Davis led with 25 points while R'Mani Taylor  (12 points) and Dean (11 points) combined for 23 points and Malay McQueen recorded the winning three-pointer.

MEET THE COWGIRLS
Despite a 4-11 record, the Cowgirls are one of two SLC teams with 70 or more points averaged in a game along with Texas A&M-Commerce. Ironically, the two teams played each other on Saturday and McNeese ended up losing 87-78. The Cowgirls give up a conference-high 83.8 ppg.

EMILIA TENBROCK HAD A 40-PIECE
Emilia Tenbrock led the Cowgirls with 40 points against Texas A&M-Commerce. She posted 14-of-26 from the field, which included four three's and went eight-of-nine from the charity stripe. The German native from Dusseldorf is second in scoring at 14.7 behind Dean.
