FRISCO, Texas - The Southland Conference today unveiled their list of their All-Academic Honors list from the 2022-23 men's golf season. For Lamar University's men's golf team, three members were tabbed by the conference with
Carl Hardin and
Jacob Lindh each earning first team honors while
Hugo Hellman took second team honors.
The all-academic teams are voted on by a head coach, sports information director and an academic/compliance staff member from each Southland Conference institution. Student-athletes must possess a 3.0 cumulative GPA and completed one full academic year at the nominating institution to qualify for All-Academic selection. Voting of one's players was not permitted.
A business education major from Loddekopinge, Sweden, Hardin was one of two first honorees for the Cardinals. Posting a 3.04 GPA, Hardin finished this past season earning first team all-conference honors. In 36 rounds of golf, he posted a 73.39 stroke average, which included 13 rounds of par or better. While his best finish was a tie for third at the Graeme McDowell Invitational (75-72-73--220), he would set a career low round of 64 in the final round at the Valspar Invitational, which gave him his lowest three round total of 208 (71-73-64). His second top-10 finish was at the SLC Championships with him tying for eighth (71-74-73--218).
Lindh, an industrial engineering major from Skanor, Sweden, was also accepted as a first team member with a 3.91 GPA. Appearing in 33 rounds, Lindh posted a 75.82 stroke average, which included seven rounds of par or better. On two occasions did he record rounds of 70 at the Bayou City Collegiate and the Mossy Oak Intercollegiate. His best finish of the season was a tie of eighth (72-71-75--218) at the SLC Championships, a spot he would share with Hardin and Hellman ironically. Lindh would also be named on both the Dean's List and President's list at LU.
Hellman, who hails from Salem, Sweden posted a 3.80 GPA in his undergrad while majoring in finance. He also graduated with a master's in Business Administration earning a perfect 4.0 GPA. In 36 rounds of golf, he recorded a 73.61 stroke average, which featured 11 rounds of par or better. Twice did Hellman tie his career low round of 67 at the Little Rock Invitational and the Bayou City Classic, where he would also have his best finish at a tie for fourth with 209 strokes. This finish was one of three top-10 finishes as he also tied for sixth at Little Rock and tied for eighth at the SLC Championships (71-73-74--218). Like Lindh, Hellman was also a recipient of the Dean's List and President's list.
