HOUSTON, Texas - Lamar University's men's golf team opened their next tournament at the University of Houston's All-American Intercollegiate. After a decent start in which they were ahead of two of the six top-50 nationally ranked opponents in this tournament, the Cardinals find themselves in 16th place out of 21 teams with 599 strokes (297-302).
On this day, Carl Hardin would experience being one-under-par and one-over-par for the rounds. He began with two birdies on the front nine before three bogeys got him a 73 in the first round. However, he responded with a 71 to put him tied for 15th with 144 strokes on the day. Both Guillermo Estivill and Pedro Marin each recorded 74 strokes in the first round. But it was a three stroke difference in the second round that has Estivill (74-75=149) tied for 52nd and Marin (74-78=152) tied for 72nd. Hugo Hellman shot a pair of 78s on the day to be at 156 strokes, which ties him for 89th along with Jacob Lindh, who went from 76 in round one to 80 in the second round.Â
No. 36 Louisville currently has an eight stroke lead over No. 17 Kansas State while their top golfer, No. 55 ranked Max Kennedy, trails by one stroke to leaders Santiago De La Fuente (No. 46 Houston) and Jake Hall (No. 14 Tennessee).
