BEAUMONT, Texas - Getting themselves back on the winning side after a thrilling comeback win over Louisiana, Lamar University women's basketball team will have their fifth straight game away from the Neches Arena this Sunday before Christmas break. For their final opponent on this road stretch, the Cardinals will test themselves against the undefeated TCU Horned Frogs in Ft. Worth at 2:00 p.m.

IT WAS THE BEST OF HALVES. IT WAS THE WORST OF HALVES
Down 33-20 at the half, the Cardinals rallied back to defeat Louisiana 63-60 on Wednesday night. Big Red shot 30.8% from the field in the first half, but then shot 55.6% in the second half. They outscored the Ragin' Cajuns 22-9 in the third quarter in which they made 64.3% from the field.

ONLY FIVE SCORERS
The Cardinals had only five players on the scoresheet led by Akasha Davis, who netted 7-of-9 for 22 points. Sabria Dean tallied 17 points, including 10 in the first half, while R'Mani Taylor used a 10-point second half to score 12. Anaya Bernard came off the bench to put in nine points on four field goals while Jacei Denley added the remaining three points.

DOUBLE-DOUBLE X 20
Although she started the game on the bench, Akasha Davis would record her 20th career double-double as she along with 22 points, she grabbed 10 rebounds. This was her second double-double of the season after recording her first against UTEP (11/22/23; 11 points, 10 rebounds). The 22 points are the second highest point total for the year following 24 vs. Texas College (11/8/23).

SOUTHLAND'S TOP TWO SCORERS? THE USUAL DUO OF DAVIS AND DEAN!
With their recent performance, Dean (15.8 ppg) and Davis (13.9 ppg) currently occupy the top two spots in scoring in the Southland Conference. Davis also leads the conference in field goal percentage having made 42-of-64 from the field (65.6%). In addition to scoring, Dean is third in the conference in free throw percentage (82.1%), which is also tops on the squad.

HISTORY VS. THE HORNED FROGS
The Cardinals are 2-6 all-time against the Horned Frogs. They started the series history by winning the first contest in 1983 81-69 in Ft. Worth. 13 years later, LU hung 109 points to knock TCU 109-86 in Beaumont. Since then, the Horned Frogs have won the last six meetings between the programs.

MEET THE HORNED FROGS
The Horned Frogs are off to a leaping start at 10-0 on the season, which puts them one behind their all-time best winning streak. They are one of three Big XII teams to be at 10-0 (Texas, Texas Tech). Averaging 79.7 points per game, the Horned Frogs possess the Big XII's top two scorers in Madison Conner (23.7) and Sedona Prince (21.0).

YOU WERE IN FLORIDA WITH US, YES?
Ironically, TCU partook in the same St. Pete's Showcase as Lamar in St. Petersburg. They would win the tournament defeating both UTEP (85-56) and Nebraska (88-81). Prince was named the tournament MVP.

THE PRINCE IS HAVING A BLOCK PARTY
Prince recently recorded a career-high 10 blocks against Abilene Christian. That puts her tied for third in the nation with 30 blocks, which also leads the Big XII. Two blocks away from 100 in her career, Prince recorded 68 of her blocks while at the the University of Oregon, where she led them to two Pac-12 regular season and conference tournament titles.

THREE'S COMPANY
Assassins from behind the three-point line, the Horned Frogs are second in the nation averaging 11.0 three-pointers per game. Madison Conner leads with 52 three's, including 20 over the last three-games. Her 118 three-point attempts are second in the nation behind Iowa's Caitlin Clark.
