LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - After seeing the second round of the tournament delayed due to darkness, Lamar University's men's golf team concluded their fall season at the Everett Buick GMC Classic. Finishing the second round with 292, the Cardinals ended their tournament shooting their best round of 282. In their three rounds, the Cardinals finished 12th with a three-round total of 869 (295-292-282).
Nathan Woodham, who had 74 and a season low round of 68 was LU's top golfer finishing 12th shooting 212 after a last round total 70. This included a pair of eagles on the par-five first and 16th holes. David Schneider Jerez tied for 20tht with 214. After two rounds of 74, Schneider Jerez matched his career low of 66, which featured five birdies and an eagle on the par-five ninth hole.
Head coach Jessie Mudd was pleased with the play of his top two golfers for this tournament. "I'm very proud of David for bouncing back and having one of the lowest rounds of the tournament today," he said. "Nathan played solid all three rounds, and it's a great way to finish off the fall semester."
Although Jacob Lindh (70-74-74) eagled on the first hole, he tied for 38th with 218 strokes. After an even-par 72, Carl Hardin tied for 68th with 227 (79-76-72). Following two rounds of 77, Pedro Marin ended his tournament tied for 78th shooting 76 to make his final total of 230. Fermin Martinez started his tournament shooting a 75, but rounds of 81 and 80 finished out in a tie for 82nd.
LSU won the overall team tournament by nine strokes over Troy while Mark Stockade of Central Arkansas defeated Michigan's Hunter Thomson by three strokes for the individual title.
With the fall season over, the Cardinals will be back in action on Feb. 5th as they will travel down to Cancun, Mexico for the Los Vaqueros Invitational.
