Jerlebo Cards Hole-in-One on Day Two of WAC Championships

| By:
KERRVILLE, Texas - Lamar University sophomore Linnea Jerlebo recorded a hole-in-one as the Cardinals improved by two strokes on the second day of the Western Athletic Conference Championships to move into a tie for sixth place overall. Big Red enters the final day of action with a two-round 632 (317-315). In addition to Jerlebo's milestone, and the team's move up the ladder, junior Alessia Trebbi Tindall also made a jump on the individual leaderboard.

After shooting 80 in the first round, Trebbi-Tindall collected 75 strokes in the second round to be tied for 16th. Jerlebo's highlight came on the par three eighth hole as she recorded an ace. She finished the day a 78 to be tied for 20th (156 strokes). Senior Stephanie Banach shot one stroke better in Tuesday's second round and is tied for 30th with 159 strokes (80-79). Madi Smith dropped down four strokes and sits tied for 43rd. Lucy Bedford posted a 93 after a 96 yesterday to be 57th with 189 strokes.

"Today, we fought hard," said head coach Janell Howland. "We had a few too many big numbers to jump up the leaderboard, but we had more birdies today which helped. Linnea also had her first hole in one ever so that was really special for her."

The final round will tee-off tomorrow.
